House League Hockey

A vital step in your child's hockey journey

Our House League Hockey program is designed to help young players continue their hockey development in a fun, competitive, and supportive environment. Tailored for children ages 9 to 12 (exceptions for older players may apply), this program is the perfect next step after completing Learn to Play, offering the opportunity to refine skills, understand game strategies, and experience the thrill of team competition.

why house league?

House League Hockey is where players can take their foundational skills and develop them further. Here’s why our program is such an important part of your child’s hockey journey:

  • Skill Development: With dedicated coaches and a curriculum that emphasizes skating, puck handling, and game awareness, players will continue to build on the fundamental skills essential for hockey. The regular practice and game schedule allows for consistent improvement throughout the season.
  • Teamwork and Sportsmanship: House League teaches players the value of teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment. These lessons extend beyond the ice, helping children develop essential life skills.
  • Competitive Fun: Our House League is competitive enough to challenge players, yet inclusive and recreational, making it ideal for beginning to intermediate players. The structured game play and regular practices ensure that hockey remains fun and engaging.

Registration information

  • Full-Season Registration: Registration covers the entire season, from October to February. However, we understand that some players may be ready to join later in the season. That’s why we offer a secondary registration window in late November, providing a second entry point for future Learn to Play graduates and other interested players. This approach is a crucial aspect of our organization’s growth, ensuring that more children have the opportunity to experience hockey.

Practices and Games

  • Practices: Teams will practice once a week, with occasional additional practice sessions depending on the division. This regular ice time is vital for skill development and team bonding.
  • Games: Each team will play approximately 12-16 games during the season. All games are held at our home facility, ensuring a convenient and supportive environment for players and families.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between House League & Travel?

  • House League is designed for players of varying skill levels and does not require tryouts. It’s a great way for players to learn and enjoy the game in a more relaxed setting, with all games played at our home facility. Travel Hockey, on the other hand, involves higher competition levels, tryouts, and games against other associations, often involving travel and overnight stays for tournaments.
